MPTA Shares About Public Transit Funding with House Committee
On Wednesday, May 21st, the Michigan House Appropriations Subcommittee on State and Local Transportation had a hearing on public transit funding.
Although the hearing was just 60 minutes long, it included a number of presentations, including House Fiscal analyst Bill Hamilton, followed by MDOT's Jean Ruestman, followed by MPTA Vice Chair Harmony Lloyd and Executive Director John Dulmes, concluded by TRU Director Megan Owens.
MPTA described the different types of transit service provided by local agencies in our state, as well as the funding challenges and policy opportunities for the Legislature.

There were a number of funding-related questions from legislators during the first two presentations, but MPTA and TRU were both limited on time and so did not receive any questions from legislators. The hearing was for informational purposes only and did not provide any further updates on the House budget process.
